Course Overview
Mental Health Education is a compulsory quality-oriented general education course for vocational college students. Based on the physical and mental development characteristics of higher vocational college students and the talent training orientation of Shanxi Water Conservancy Vocational and Technical College, this course focuses on students’ psychological growth, personality shaping and emotional regulation. It aims to help students establish positive mental health awareness, master basic psychological adjustment skills, and cultivate good psychological quality to adapt to campus life, interpersonal communication, career development and social adaptation.
Different from theoretical psychological courses, this course adheres to the educational concept of “prevention first, guidance-oriented and practical application”. It closely combines the common psychological confusion and growth problems of contemporary vocational students, such as adaptation anxiety, emotional management, interpersonal barriers, academic pressure, employment confusion and setback tolerance, and integrates situational guidance, case analysis and practical experience throughout the teaching process, focusing on the effectiveness of psychological education and growth empowerment.
Core Course Content
The course systematically covers key modules of adolescent mental health and vocational psychological quality. The main contents include the basic connotation and evaluation standards of mental health, campus adaptation and role transformation of college students, self-cognition and personality improvement, emotional identification and scientific management, interpersonal communication skills and intimate relationship establishment, learning psychology and pressure adjustment, frustration tolerance and positive psychological quality cultivation. In addition, combined with the characteristics of vocational education and front-line technical posts, the course focuses on expanding vocational mental health knowledge, including career planning psychology, employment pressure adjustment, workplace adaptation and team cooperation psychology. It also popularizes basic knowledge of psychological crisis prevention and self-rescue and mutual-aid skills for psychological problems.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will establish a correct view of mental health, correctly understand their own psychological development characteristics, and recognize common psychological problems and adjustment methods in college life and future workplace. Students can master practical skills of emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, pressure relief and frustration resistance, effectively resolve negative emotions and growth confusion in study, life and internship. The course helps students shape healthy personality traits such as self-confidence, self-discipline, tolerance and positivity, cultivate good psychological adaptability and professional literacy, lay a solid psychological foundation for completing academic studies, adapting to workplace posts and realizing healthy and sustainable personal development.
